Mission

feature

Cochlear implants (CIs) are revolutionary tools for improving the quality of life for the profoundly deaf. However, calibrating and personalizing the auditory settings on CIs currently requires audiologists to rely solely on verbal and implicit communication from the patient, leaving those without the ability to self-advocate at risk of being under-served.

We’re here to change that.

feature

Since 2000, CIs have been FDA-approved for use in eligible children beginning at 12 months of age. For applicable youth, using CI in the early stages of life is critical for their speech and language development. Our technology can increase the efficacy of audio rehabilitation towards optimal development.

This project was for the JHU MedHack 2018 Patient Safety and Quality Track. The challenge was to design a technology that improves quality of patient safety. We chose to tackle a health issue that hits home to all of our team members. We hope you've enjoyed exploring our project!
